The Diagnodent is a pen-sized laser that we use to shine on your teeth to detect decay.  The laser is actually capable of looking inside your teeth where our eyes cannot see.  It is capable of detecting cavities when they are small, before they would be visible on x-rays.  The advantage is enormous as the earlier a cavity is caught, the less expensive it is to fix and the less worry there is of needing a root canal.

Before sealing any of your child’s teeth, we check them with the Diagnodent to ensure that the teeth are healthy and without decay.  With this new diagnostic aid we have found that a significant number of new back teeth may have defects and decay that require a filling instead of a sealant.  We recognized the great benefit of this technology and have been using it in our office since it was first introduced a number of years ago.  If you or your child have back teeth that have not been checked with the Diagnodent, call and have us do so.
